INAM visit for on-the-job training in calibration (2015)

Four technical officers from Mozambique's National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) visited WMO/RIC Tsukuba from 2 to 11 December 2015 for on-the-job training in meteorological instrument calibration as part of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Project for the Capacity Enhancement of Meteorological Observation, Weather Forecasting and Warning of INAM (a JICA initiative run by the Japan Meteorological Business Support Center (JMBSC)).

The trainees practiced calibration procedures and developed guidelines for traceability and an inspection system relating to temperature and pressure. One of RIC Tsukuba's key roles involves assisting WMO Members in calibrating their national meteorological standards and related environmental monitoring instruments. In this connection, the training is considered to have been successful and to have contributed to the mutual development of meteorological services provided by INAM and JMA.
